From distant Russia America always seemed like "the promised land", where anyone could find happiness and joy. The "iron curtain" had put a veil of mystery on the United States and other foreign countries, which enchanted and intrigued Russians for years. The "lucky guys" who had traveled abroad, returned to the motherland with wonderful gifts and astonishing stories, that made other people anxious to get there at any cost.

In early nineties Perestroika broke the wall between the former Soviet Union and the rest of the world. After a short while the amazed world has suddenly discovered the most valuable "natural resource" left in poor and devastated Russia - its beautiful women. "Russian wives" have become as precious as Siberian gems and fur... The whole world happened to be full of desperate foreigners looking for wives and girlfriends in Russia. On the other side, the Internet and Mass Media started luring Russian women with tempting advertisement of prosperous and family oriented gentlemen. With the growing demand, entrepreneurs hurried up to get their place in this industry, and matchmaking turned into a multimillion dollar business.

Thousands of Russian girls came to the USA and other foreign countries, assuming that it would not be difficult for them to adjust to a new life. Most of them were sure, that all their troubles would leave them as soon as they crossed the boarder...
